Shirodhara :
Shirodhara (shiro-dar-a) is a unique, blissful therapy that balances and stabilizes the mind. To receive shirodhara, the client lies down upon a massage table with their eyes covered. Next, specially prepared warm herbal oil is poured in a thin steady stream directly onto the forehead and sixth chakra. Shirodhara purifies the mind, alleviates anxiety, reduces headaches, and expands awareness. Shirodhara can be administered on its own or as part of a panchakarma detoxification regime.The oils used in shirodhara are specific to the dosha that needs balancing.
Kati Basti :
Kati Basti is non-invasive Ayurveda therapy for backache. It is also good to keep the spine healthy. Generally, Basti treatment is used to promote elimination of the loosened Vata Dosha. Basti involves introducing medicinal substances such as herbal oils in liquid form on affected parts of the body until oil get absorbed through skin pores & becomes part of the tissue. Since Vata is mainly located in the colon and bones the oil is applied on those parts of the body.In Kati Basti warm Medicated oil is kept on the affected part of the back region for a pre-stipulated time. This stimulates blood flow to the affected area and releases the blocked or vitiated Vata Dosha.
Jaanu Basti :
The knee joint is called Janu Sandhi in Sanskrit; hence the name Janu Basti is given to the proceduredone on knee joints. In this the knee joint is bathed with warm medicated oil or freshly prepared herbal decoction. Depending on the condition it can be practiced over both the knee joints or on one knee joint. Knee joints are considered as sandhi Marma in Ayurveda (joint type of vital areas) which measure about three fingers (three anguli pramana).So the janu vasti is specialized knee therapy or massage which rejuvenate the janu marma.
Netra tarpana :
The eyes are the windows to the soul and one of the main sites of pitta dosha called alocha. Excess heat or fire element can accumulate in the eyes causing dryness, strain, bloodshot eyes, and diminished vision. With the overuse of staring at computer screens and detailed work, it is beneficial to give your eyes extra nutrition and rest with this eye therapy. Netra Tarpana cools, lubricates, and rejuvenates the eyes improves the inner vision by clearing out the subtle channels associated with inner and outer perception. It helps to bring back brightness and clarity to the eyes as impurities are expelled.
Netra seka :
Netra seka or also called as netra dhara has been given a fundamental importance in ayurveda for the treatment of various eye diseases. This simple technique is consist of preparation of kashaya (home brewed ayurvedic medicine) and spilling the prepared medicated decoction on the eye. Nekra seka benefits in conditions like conjunctivitis, blepharitis, eye strain, watering of eyes, redness in eyes and dry eye syndrome. This procedure can be done easily at home if prescribed and is safe.
Udvartana :
Udvartana is a special ayurvedic body therapy that involves two therapists massaging a person’s body using a unique herbal paste. The herbal paste consists of herbal powders and oils designed to provide maximum therapeutic benefit for your body type and health condition/s.The treatment is performed on a traditional wooden table made from the neem tree, which enhances the healing and detoxifying effect of the treatment.
Abhyanga :
Abhyanga ("oil massage") is a form of Ayurvedic medicine that involves massage of the body with dosha-specific warm herb infused oils. The oil is usually pre-mixed with herbs for specific conditions.he Abhyanga is a part of the Dinacharya (daily practices) specified by the Brhat Trayi and Laghutrayi series of Ayurvedic textbooks to maintain good health and well-being. Proponents claim Abhyanga aids joint health, nourishes the dhatus (tissues of the body) and brings aggravated doshas back to balance. They further claim it improves the condition of dry, coarse hair and flaky skin.
Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda :
This is one of the popular rejuvenating therapies that originated in Ayurvedic practices in Kerala. A special variety of medicated rice is cooked with herbs. This is then applied in a synchronized manner to different parts of the body as a fomentation. This therapy tones up muscles and nerves and therefore is highly recommended to treat ailments where there is atrophy of muscles and for neurological disorders. It also helps to rejuvenate the body and so is used in Kaya Kalpa treatments.
Pinda Sweda :
Pinda Sweda is a type of Ayurvedic massage which is done with warm medicated herbal oils and herb bags. These bags/ boluses are prepared by a combination of herbs depending on the client’s body type as well as health condition. Herbs are tied in linen cloth to make small bags which are then dipped in warm oils and placed on the body.The result is increased energy, circulation and mobility, along with a wonderful sense of lightness and calm.
Valuka Sweda (Sand Sudation Therapy) :
An effective holistic treatment in Ayurveda is Valuka Swedana, or Sweda. It is generally carried out after Abhyanga and Snehana treatments. Valuka translates to sand while Sweda translates to sweat-inducing.In this therapy, heated sand is used to make painful body parts swell. This process is called fomentation. Valuka Sweda is most effective for conditions characterized by swelling, heaviness, and stiffness. It can be performed on a specific part of the body or the whole body itself.Since sand is the core component of this therapy, it needs to be chosen with caution. Generally, sand is cleaned by removing gravel, shells, pebbles, and thorns.
